pin weaving

Last Saturday, I finally tried something that I've been curious about: pin weaving!

This reminds me of bobbin lace - have you tried it? You'd probably love it!

Hi, I have not tried bobbin lace but really admire it. The pin weaving idea I saw in Belle Armoire magazine and several years ago. I think it probably had some instructions. I just took a piece of masonite, attached with push pins a piece of graph paper with my design sketched on it. The graph paper was only a rough guide to visualize where the pins would go to make the "warp" through which I would weave my "weft." I actually have not tried again since because I got sidetracked trying some other ideas, but I really should go back and explore it more fully. It just seemed neat to weave something that was not a square or rectangle. And I love trees and leaves. Hope this helps!

I imagine I could stitch the warp threads through fabric on an embroidery hoop and then weave the weft stitches. I'd love to make a shawl like this.
